How to Make Grilled English Muffins for Your Grilled Bratwurst Sausage
Preparing a delicious bread and sausage snack depends on
what type of sausage you are cooking and the kind of bread you use. If you find
a grilled bratwurst for your sandwich incredibly delicious, pairing it with
English style grilled bread could make the whole package a perfect Bratwurst
Day snack.
Regardless of how you cook brats, it takes a little while to
cook thoroughly. When grilling, I suggest that you put the sausages in a pouch.
Cook them with the correct temperature so your bratwurst will not come out
burnt on the outside and not so done on the inside. When using a charcoal
grill, wait until the charcoal has some white ash and is not too hot before
putting your brats on the grill. Do not be tempted to pierce the skins to
prevent the fat and juices from creating flame flare-ups that could burn the
sausage and dry out the inside.
For your muffins, there is nothing like the tender and soft
to bite English muffins for your brats. Here is a recipe on how to make grilled
English muffins using a bread machine.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 3 1/4 cup bread flour
- 1 1/4 tsp yeast
- Cornmeal
- Water
Preparation:
Except for the cornmeal, combine all ingredients into a pan.
Secure the pan into the bread machine, cover with the lid and select the dough
cycle. When the cycle has completed, remove dough from pan and bring to a
lightly floured surface. Cover the dough with a large bowl and let it rest for
15 minutes.
After the 15 minutes, roll the dough out on a floured board
to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut the dough into 3 inches circles and place the
circles onto the prepared baking sheet. Slightly brush the tops with a little
water then sprinkle with a little cornmeal. Cover the dough and let it rise in
a warm place for at least 30 minutes, or until it has doubled in size. Preheat
the grill to 500 degrees and put the risen circles on the grill to cook for 7-
8 minutes. Turn and continue grilling for an additional 6 minutes, or until
golden brown. Fill the muffins with the grilled bratwurst sausages along with
your favorite fillings. Serve while muffins are still warm.
You can substitute 1 cup of whole flour for 1 cup of bread
flour if desired. For successful results, be sure to roll out the dough as
directed in the recipe. Note that very thick dough will brown the muffins on
the outside but will not properly cook the inside. It is also ideal to turn the
muffins only once so the tops will not flatten.
Now you can enjoy fantastic grilled brats in grilled English
muffins!
